As we approach the first round of the new GCSE there is growing anxiety about how our students will fare in their exams. Science leaders and teachers are increasingly required to predict outcomes from an unfamiliar assessment and, quite rightly, intervene to improve the confidence of those students that fall behind where they should be. This important work can only be successful if it is based on robust data. I have developed an approach to secondary assessment that uses what we already know and the power of collective working to give us confidence in the conclusions we draw from student assessment. Those conclusions can then drive our teaching to secure the success of our students. This session will explain the assessment approach and allow hands on exploration of how you can use the information with your students.
