This workshop is aimed at teachers of key stage 3 (Years 8 and 9) students. This session will provide an overview of what the Institute of Physics Science Ambassador Training Scheme is and how schools can get involved to develop their own Physics Ambassadors. Once trained, these ambassadors can deliver sessions at outreach events, primary schools or for a school STEM club before helping to train a new generation of Science Ambassadors at their school. The scheme is unique in that it uses an inter-generational teaching and learning approach, helping to bridge the gap for the students involved. It also uses inclusive teaching practices to compliment the work the IOP is doing to address gender balance in Physics and empowers students; especially girls, to drive through their own ideas. During the session participants will get an opportunity to try out some of the activities that the students complete on the training day, find out a little more about the preparatory personal development workshops, the feedback received to date and what some Science Ambassadors are up to now.
