Carol Davenport

Director, NUSTEM
Newcastle Upon Tyne
Carol is an experienced science educator who has worked with all ages of student – primary, secondary, as well as trainee and experienced teachers.
Her teaching career started in Barnsley college as a Physics lecturer.  Following a career break she then  taught physics (and science) at a large North East school for over seven years. Carol also was part of a number of curriculum development projects whilst at the school: from creating an online video physics course, writing a new curriculum for years seven and eight to being the actor for a hologram! She was also the school subject mentor for ITE students.
Carol then moved into the field of teacher education and worked within the network of Science learning centres for over 5 years.  These roles allowed her to combine her love of science (especially physics) with working with adults.  Carol has also worked with the Institute of Physics as a Physics Network Coordinatorfor the Stimulating Physics Network in the North East, and enjoys finding new and different practicals and demos to share with colleagues. She find it hard to walk past gadget shops without buying something to add to her store of physics toys, and enjoys sharing them with anyone who’ll listen.
Carol is also involved with a number of exam boards and is a textbook author.
