Jamie is an edtech and geography award-winner for live-linking global issues to classrooms. Director of Encounter Edu which he founded in 2008 as Digital Explorer, Jamie saw the importance of engaging young people to learn about world topics when he taught teenagers in east London schools between 2004 and 2008. As such, he began pioneering in the use of live-broadcasts from remote areas and field stations, bringing faraway peoples, fragile environments, and field research to pupils in schools globally.

Designed to inspire, this live-education model is now part Encounter Edu, which produces curriculum-aligned global learning programmes. To date, Jamie continues to address issues from oceans and marine plastics to driverless cars and polar exploration, through this unique blend of live linking, underpinned by a resource library and professional development.
