Norbert van Veen
Fons Vitae High School & CMA - Amsterdam Physics Pedagogy and Robotics
Amsterdam
Norbert van Veen, MSc. (male) is a CMA employee concerned with physics education and pedagogy. I am a teacher trainer in the field of robotics, ICT use and physics pedagogy. I also work as a physics and science teacher in Amsterdam. Former activities include working on projects at the University of Amsterdam to bridge the gap between secondary and higher education and research on cosmic rays at the national institute for subatomic physics (Nikhef / HiSPARC). In 2014 Norbert received the WND/DBK-Na first prize for developing physics lesson material at the Dutch conference for physics teachers. In my lecture I will discuss the implementation of modelling in the Dutch upper level science courses. Modelling helps students to analyse and simulate difficult science concepts like: Quantum mechanics, glucose regulation, chemical reactions, motion with friction, spread of diseases like Ebola. Attendants can create their own models during the lecture.
